Crowds flocked to Sutton town Centre on Saturday, August 13th to see two of Hollywood’s biggest stars – and when we say big, we mean big!

Giant Transformers stars Bumblebee and Optimus Prime touched down in the Royal Town to greet shoppers, thrill wide-eyed youngsters and have pose for photographs.

The visit by the colourful characters was part of the new Visit Royal Sutton Coldfield programme, organised by Sutton Coldfield Business Improvement District (BID), which aims to encourage more people to choose the town centre as a destination to spend time, eat, drink, shop and relax.

BID Manager Michelle Baker said:

“There was an amazing response to the visit of Bumblebee and Optimus Prime, with hundreds of people turning out to meet them and have their photograph taken.

“There was a real buzz of excitement around the town centre, and we’re planning lots of other events and attractions to get people to visit and see what we have to offer.”

Among the attractions planned is a new Farmers Market, which will take place along the Parade on the last Sunday of the month from 10am-2pm with dates confirmed as September 25th, October 30th, November 27th. Traders already confirmed for the first market include stalls selling local organic meat, a fishmonger, a cheesemaker and fresh pies as well as colourful cakes by renowned baker Cakes-A-Daisy.

But next up is an even bigger visitor to Sutton – when the King of the Dinosaurs arrives in the Royal Town.

Chomp – the world’s biggest and most realistic Tyrannosaurus Rex – will be in the town centre on Bank Holiday Monday, August 29th.
