Sutton Coldfield’s monthly Farmer’s Market took on a spooky feel for Halloween – complete with stilt walking witches and a pop-up cinema showing family-friendly scary movies.

Thousands turned out in the October sunshine for the popular market, which saw dozens of stalls line the Parade offering quality goods.

And the event had an added eerie edge, as traders dressed up for Halloween, decorating their stalls and putting out special themed produce.

And shoppers were treated to the sight of two towering, stilt-walking witches who entertained the crowds and posed for pictures. There was also free face painting, for youngsters to get a spooky make-over.

Elsewhere, residents could take one of 50 deck chairs and hide behind their popcorn to enjoy spooky family favourite films such as The Adams Family, Hocus Pocus and Bedknobs and Broomsticks, thanks to the pop-up cinema.

Michelle Baker, Visit Royal Sutton Coldfield BID Manager, said: “We would like to thank everyone who turned out to enjoy our Halloween Farmers Market, and all of the traders who made an effort to get involved in the fun.

“The pop-up cinema was great too – we know Sutton residents miss their local cinema, so putting on this outdoor screen for four days in the town centre allowed people to enjoy a little movie magic again.

“As always, these events are paid for entirely by local businesses, and aim to bring more people into the town centre.

“We’re very grateful to local residents for continuing to support everything the BID does, and we’re already planning some great Christmas events for them.”

Visit Royal Sutton Coldfield BID (Business Improvement District) his funded by 377 local businesses who pay a levy which funds town centre initiatives.
